Update

So it's now Sunday and our Caribbean getaway has been awesome!! We've thoroughly enjoyed the weather, the water, the food, and the shopping...but more importantly is the time we've spent together as a family. No tv, no phone, no interruptions. It's been amazing. I ended up getting pretty fried the second day at the pool...yes, Jen, I was wearing sunscreen...so I spent most of my time in the shade on the third day, listening to Metallica on my iPod and watching Chris and Gracie have a blast in the pool. Our afternoons are spent on the balconey while Gracie naps. It's extremely relaxing to watch the boats go by. There are alot of cruise ships that pass by and Gracie is so excited every time she sees one. Now she wants to go on a big boat, and so does Mommy.

This time together has become even more important because at 12:45 this morning I got a phone call that I lost a member of my family. My granny, who has suffered so much lately, passed into the arms of Jesus early this morning. Granny is the one who took us to church before our parents got saved. She made sure we attended Vacation Bible School and she pretty much planted the seeds that are now bearing fruit in my life. Around her house you would always find her Bible and her Upper Room devotional sitting on the end table beside the couch. As she went about her daily chores, there was always a hymn being hummed. Granny didn't have much of a singing voice, but she sang anyway. She sang for her Jesus. The Bible says to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye saints. And she did. I have seen with my own eyes, her kneeling by her bed to pray. To pray for her children to come to the Lord, for her husband, my Papaw...who came to Jesus shortly before his death in '94. Granny was a prayer warrior. When she lifted you to the Throne of Grace, you knew it. She was the most spiritual woman I've ever met.

Someday, I want to be like Granny. I want to be able to pray like that and shake the foundations like she did. I want my baby girl to know that her mommy prays for her every day and to raise her to pray also. I've got some pretty big shoes to fill. Better get started.

I love you Granny. Godspeed.

Angie, I'm glad you're having a good time (especially shopping)! Enjoy the rest of your trip and thanks for the updates. It's nice to hear about warmth and sunshine on a rainy dreary day.

I want to express my deep sympathy at the passing of Granny. While she was a woman of God, it doesn't negate the pain you feel or how much you will wish her. Praying for your family.

Maybe one day you'll be like Granny, but you've been able to show me Him so many times, I think in your own way, you are just like her.

Love,
Amy
